Looking past the MAP comments , theres some 'damming' comments on Bands in the UK

I have spent the last few weeks getting the band (4B) to think about phrasing and pointing in everything they play, we have a G1 Piping tutor coming into the band to help us out once a week, again going over phrasing etc, to say that nothing like this goes on oer here is naieve to say the least , 2 bands he has used as examples, well lets think about it another way,

Can anyone tell me the rules regarding appeals if a bands person has been asked to leave?

i'm lead to believe that they are allowed an appeal, want to know that the rules are about it!

Leading on from the latter posts in the BAND V SOLO CHANTER.

We were doing a bit of walking down memory lane, I just wondered what band 'n which piper influenced you in your early days.

Mine as you all probably know were the old Edinburgh Police and the Glasgow Police, the latter became the big band for me when ma good friend Harry McAleer left us to join them and latter serve as PM. To this day I still keep close contact wi a few friends there and follow them closely, but my first choice ...

With todays higher pitch is it really necessary to have a separate chanter fer doin' yer solo gigs competitions?.

Sunday past I bumped into an old friend from Ravara ( drummer ), I'd just finished playing a hymn then Flowers of the forest. Walking back towards the car Colin said, "Hey, a liked the sound of yer pipes Iain well done "

This made me think is it really that important to have a second chanter for other gigs?.......the pitch we have at Drumlough ( although not ear piercing' ...

It's very difficult to tell Mrs Stormy where to go at times and when she has dancers performing at George Square, Glasgow on St. Andrews Night and is looking for a piper what do I do?????

Just got home tonight from 4 different rehearsals for remembrance day parades...........cold, soaked da the skin 'n generally pissssed aff.

Why do I let maself get talked inda these things?.

Why?........I'll tell you why, just as these thoughts were going through my mind I recalled the images on my desktop.........the 36th Ulster Division going over the top. They too were soaked, cold, injured, pissed aff 'n fed up too..............the big difference was they were in the middle of a battle ...
