I heard the first half of grade 1, and was of the opinion that it was a very high standard indeed.
Shotts were vastly improved, they almost had all the chanters sounding alike
It was a good day for it, and overall there were good bands to be found all over the park.
I'll not go ino the results too deeply, but, suffice to say, a glance through the tables does show some fluctuation between judges, and I can't understand how a band can have a massive difference between drumming and ensemble.
Very big bands can have a piping difference, as things may or not be heard, but a band of 10 should allow judges to hear everything.
I don't doubt for a second that Harry Russell will get pelters, right or wrong I don't know,
But If I played for SLOT, I would be Very Very disappointed this morning.
Cheers
