Not sure I like that... it sounds plastic, some of the grace notes cant be heard (by me anyway) and... when he put the reed in water it didn't sound the same, I think you'd probably get that water logged sound you get from a practice chanter reed after a while.

Agreed,
Wouldn't do for me, but I'm not a massive fan of a plastic set-up, at least with regards to sound and tonal quality.
I can see it having a use in a plug and play environment, and along with plastic bags and drone reeds will provide a stable bagpipe set-up.
Useful up to a point.

It's crap but is better then the Clanrye reed that come out years ago. Who knows, maybe someone will get it right down the road. For now I think I'll stick with my cane reed.

I could see using it in horrible weather conditions where you don't have much of an opportunity to keep checking your tuning etc. For example the President Ford Funeral several years ago.
I still prefer my cane reed and good maintenance to keep my pipes sounding right. It is much better than the Clayre reed, maybe in a few years they will have it better

Well...I just picked up 6 Shepherd reeds last week........gone through them all,and everyone is amazing...over my loooooong time playing the doodlesac..I have tried a few...makers...all good ..but..!!It makes life so much easier when you get a reedmaker that suits your requirements....and needs..pitch ,tone..its all there...playing the instrument yesterday........it was better than "sex".....it is in my house................anyway....!!!

Just waiting on 24 shepherd reeds coming from Mathieson Iain its good to get them tweeked a wee bit before i get them lol

look out when your having bacon m8 especially if you get the sniffles , sore throat, headaches , muscle aches and other flu like symptoms !!!!! or is that sex !!!!!
